Counselling

Counselling, art and play therapy can help people of all ages to address emotional needs. We specialize in supporting children and their families learn more about their nervous systems, their thinking and behaviour patterns and provide the tools they need to regulate and advocate.

Feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure how to express what’s going on inside? Sometimes what we carry can feel too big, too tangled, or too quiet for words alone. Art therapy offers another way—using creativity, movement, and images to explore feelings and experiences in a way that doesn’t rely words alone.

As an art therapist with over a decade of experience in youth work and a deep commitment to neurodiversity-affirming care, I welcome people of all ages into a therapeutic space where there is no pressure to perform or create in a certain way. Inspired by Internal Family Systems (IFS), it is my hope to invite curiosity and kindness, through creative expression, to however you arrive each day.

During our sessions together we may use art materials, play, or storytelling as gentle ways of getting to know and offering care to what’s happening inside. Following what feels most supportive in the moment - some days may be more hands-on and sensory-based while others will be quieter or more reflective. There is no art experience needed — just a willingness to show up and explore together!

If you have questions or would like to learn more, you’re welcome to email me at jillian@colourwheelcounselling.com or book a free 15-minute discovery call where you can share your hopes for therapy, and see whether this feels like a good fit. I look forward to hearing from you

I have recently completed the coursework and practicum requirements for my Master of Counselling and am in the process of registering as both a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC). My work is shaped by professional training as well as lived experience as a neurodivergent person navigating spaces not always built with me in mind. These experiences have fuelled a deep curiosity about healing, growth, and the many ways people learn to adapt, connect, and thrive.

My previous background in outdoor education, communications, and respite care has grounded me in experiential and relational approaches. I see counselling as a collaborative process where meaningful change emerges through connection, curiosity, and self-compassion. Whether I am working with children, youth, or adults, my goal is to create a safe and affirming space where clients feel supported to explore their experiences, build awareness, and reconnect with their resilience and unique strengths.

With children, I take a child-centered, neuro-affirming, and creative approach that invites expression through art, play, story, and movement, supporting both attachment and regulation. With adults, I work integratively to explore patterns, navigate emotional pain, and tune into how the mind and body respond to stress. Across all ages, I bring warmth, patience, and respect, alongside a belief that humour and moments of levity can be powerful in the healing process.

At the heart of my practice is the belief that relationships with ourselves, with others, and with the world around us are central to well-being. I welcome individuals from all walks of life and strive to create an inclusive, supportive space where each person feels seen, heard, and valued.

I am a Canadian Certified Counsellor registered with the CCPA. I have a Master’s in Counselling Education and spent many years as a drama teacher supporting expression and confidence in young people. My intention as a therapist is to build positive rapport, foster a safe and inclusive environment, while nurturing student’s creativity so that they can explore and learn more about themselves. I follow a child-centred approach in play and expressive arts to support social and emotional development, navigate challenges, and to celebrate strengths. Now accepting new clients.
